The Parking Operations Coordinator responsibilities include hiring,training, scheduling, and supervising up to 50 student andtemporary employees. Working with software specific to ParkingServices to issue parking permits, process citations and appealsand track mass parking requests. Responsible for the ParkingService website. Responsible for scheduling parking team meetingsand minute taking. Incumbent will be trained in all aspects ofparking including meter and pay station collections, parkingsurveys and customer inquiries. May require working on theAllendale campus.

Essential Functions:

  • Hire, train, and supervise parking services student staff,assigning work and workflow.
  • Respond to customer requests, questions and complaints based onapproved university and department protocols pertaining touniversity parking needs.
  • Coordinate the parking violation appeal process, including theprocessing of online and written appeals; review, makerecommendations, and implement changes for appeal process.
  • Assist with bi-annual parking survey, enter raw data intospreadsheets and assemble data into graphs.
  • Responsible for the equipment used by parking services(inventories, maintains, troubleshoots, and communicates withvendors and/or IT/Facilities if there are issues). Communicates allissues including corrective steps taken and outcomes to parkingteam. Makes suggestions for updating and replacing equipment.
  • Assists with mass permit sales, move on/off campus, universityevents requiring special parking accommodations, scheduling, andtraining staff for planned and unplanned events (football games,emergency response). May perform in the lead team role asassigned.
  • Responsible for electronic and hard copy record keepingaffiliated with parking operations.
  • Works with parking team to develop procedures and studentemployee handbooks as needed for the smooth and efficient operationof the parking desk/parking department.
  • Works collaboratively as a member of the parking team toidentify university wide parking issues and find appropriateresolutions. The team is responsible for all parking related tasksand considerations for GVSU campuses while maintaining identifiedprotocol and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the Parking Serviceswebsite; coordination, scheduling, and minute taking/distributionfor all parking related meetings; maintenance and updating of theparking event calendar.
  • Create, analyze, and distribute assigned and self-initiatedreports.
  • Working/applicable hands-on knowledge of activities that takeplace in the parking department in both Allendale and Grand Rapidslocations. Required to fill in as needed.
  • Issue and invoice department requested permits (GR Facilitiesfor contracted tenant parking).
  • Assist in providing financial support throughdaily/weekly/monthly processing of pay station and pay to parkpayments.
  • Reports as essential staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with various computer software applications such asMicrosoft Office and/or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully operate officeequipment.
  • Data entry experience.
  • Typing and spelling competency with grammar and proofreadingskills.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully provide qualitycustomer service
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully work independently,organize own work and coordinate work activities of others.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience to successfully maintain satisfactorywork performance and attendance records.
  • Ability to successfully maintain positive intercultural andinterpersonal relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in higher education.

Supervision Received:

Receives general instruction from a designated supervisor but isgenerally expected to work independently.

Supervision Exercised:

Hire, train, supervise, schedule and coordinate the work of studentemployees and may act as lead worker to other PSS staff memberswithin the department/unit/division.
